Challenges in Wound Care is an e-learning resource designed to improve the diagnosis, classification, treatment and management of wounds. A number of major wound types are covered including ulcers and surgical wounds.
The materials were written by experts at the School of Human and Health Sciences and were originally published as web pages. However, there was a need to re-develop the materials in a more engaging format, and to add questions to check understanding and provide feedback to users. The materials also needed to be SCORM compliant, for compatibility with the NHS Virtual Learning Environment.
The materials were rewritten as a series of Case Studies, supported by Core Knowledge and Resource modules. The Case Studies were developed using Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Presenter, and exported in Flash format for use on the web. The Core Knowledge modules were reworked as web pages in a consistent visual style and enhanced with more images. Final materials were packaged in SCORM 1.2 format. In a later phase it is planned to enhance the materials further with video content and more interactive activities.
The new version, which is currently undergoing pilot testing at the University, has been very well received by users. A structured user survey is currently underway and it is planned to feed this back into a Version 3 product, for possible commercial release. Please contact us for more information or to request access to the demonstration website.

"They produced a professional easy to use and stimulating programme that has enhanced learning for the students and reduced face to face teaching hours.
The product was of such high quality that we have been able to sell on the package to private organisations."
