Doncaster Learning Gateways

Raising standards in adult learning in the Doncaster area.

Doncaster Learning Gateways operates a quality framework for learning providers in the Doncaster area. Initially, they needed a website to promote the service to providers and other stakeholders. Interactive Solutions were recommended by another Doncaster client – Doncaster South City Learning Centre.

After completion of the website, we were asked to develop a system to manage contacts with learners at DLG Centres, which has now been in use since 2005. The system records learner “demand”, ie what type of learning is requested, and “interventions” by the Centre, ie information, advice, guidance or actual training provided.

Recently we extended the system again to include a database of community based courses in the area – ie learning “supply”. A Geographical Information System (GIS) developed in Adobe Flash, presents the supply and demand data visually on a map, which will enable DLG and the Learning Skills Council to identify gaps in provision, when sufficient data has been captured.
