Google Maps application to display a database of global research projects

This project for the IEAGHG, was a development of an earlier application, designed to present data on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects around the world. The original application searched a database of projects using a basic click-able map, but didn't show the precise locations.

The application now displays project data on a Google Map. The map markers are numbered to correlate with entries in the results table below. Clicking on the map marker icon in the table zooms and centres the map to show the project location in more detail.

Clicking on a map marker on the map opens a balloon with a summary of the project, a thumbnail image and link to the project details.

Data is stored in a database and the maps are generated dynamically, depending on the search criteria.

The overall user experience has been improved substantially with this upgrade, which now provides a comprehensive way to browse the data geographically, as well as by keyword search and project type.
