CD-ROM and DVD design

Sometimes the web just doesn't cut the mustard.

Perhaps your users don't all have internet access, or perhaps you want a higher quality video experience than the web can currently deliver. It's true to say that the web is catching up when it comes to delivering rich media, but there are still times when disk based media has a clear advantage.

Benefits

  • Disks can be "pushed" to prospective customers (by mail) rather than waiting for them to come along to your website.
  • Disks can be used as give-aways at events, and enjoy high retention rates compared with printed material.
  • DVD Video can be played on a standard TV/DVD - No computer required, although most PCs will also play them.

Experience

We’ve been designing and developing CD-ROMs since we started out in 1995. To date, we’ve produced around 50 CD-ROM and DVD titles and duplicated in total over 0.5 million disks for our clients.

University prospectus CD or DVD-ROM

Our University international office clients return year-on-year to update their CD-ROM prospectuses. CDs have the advantage of lower overseas postage and lower duplication costs compared with a printed prospectus. They are also a lot easier to carry in personal luggage, when traveling to overseas recruitment fairs.

CD-ROM, DVD Video, DVD-ROM. What’s the difference?

In brief:

  • CD-ROM is a data format disk, with a capacity of 640Mb. It has the widest compatible user base and can carry video in a data file format (Quicktime, Windows Media, MP4 etc).
  • DVD-ROM is higher capacity version of CD-ROM, holding up to 4.7Gb (single sided). Disks can be used on any PC with a DVD drive, but not on TV-DVD players.
  • DVD Video is the disk format required for playback on a TV-DVD Player. This format does not support PC data files – just video in its own particular format (although it is possible to produce hybrid versions which can hold data files)
  • Blu-ray DVD is a new format with even higher capacity (25Gb) designed to carry High Definition video for use on Blu-Ray TV-DVD players.
